Description 

Kinzua Township - originally township "Number Eight" - was organized on March 8, 1821 out of portions of Brokenstraw Township. Later it too was broken up. The southern part of the township formed Sheffield Township, June 7, 1833 with a second portion becoming Mead Township on June 4,1847. Kinzua was merged into Mead Township when the Kinzua Dam was constructed in 1963.
