Description
This prehistoric village and cemetery representative of the Smoky Hill Culture which dates to about 1000-1350 AD provides a record of the early Central Plains Village period in Kansas. The unfortified village includes 12 to 15 known house sites, and the burial area contains remains of more than 140 individuals. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, July 19, 1964
