Description

The Watkins (Woolen) Mill contains the finest collection of mid-19th century textile machinery in situ in North America and includes some of the most significant textile artifacts known to survive. The physical plant provides important information about the wool cloth making process, the history of machinery manufacture, industrial development, and the working life of men and women in a rural, mid-western factory. -- Historic American Engineering Record (HAER MO-1)
