Description
This is one of several hospitals designed by Mills for indigent seamen. All were built with the same general plan, but in different styles. It is in the Gothic style, with pointed arches and windows and clustered columns supporting a two-story veranda. Originally the building was larger, but rear wings were damaged following a fire and removed during renovation. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, November 7, 1973
