Description 

Chelan Butte Lookout and its site are significant to the history of the USDA Forest Service and its development of a comprehensive fire surveillance and detection system. The lookout embodies the distinctive characteristics of a uniquely functional property type, designed for construction in a challenging mountain terrain.
