Description
This was the long-time home of Terence Vincent Powderly (1849-1924), who from 1879 to 1893 was the head of the Knights of Labor, an early national labor organization. The Knights flourished under his leadership for a time but by 1890, its membership had declined. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, May 23, 1966
