Description 

Constructed 1849-1850, this structure is unique among plantation houses for its foundation structure, plan, and silhouette. Built on a brick platform 100' square, the exterior combines a variety of architectural motifs in a design dominated by an immense ornate hip roof and bracketed cornice.
