Description 

From 1874 until his death, this was the residence Matthew Stanley Quay (1833-1904), a U.S. Senator who was prominent in Republican machine politics. Republican National Chairman in 1888, Quay organized and managed Benjamin Harrison's successful Presidential campaign. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, May 15, 1975
