Judge Jefferson Thomas Cowling House
Posted August 29, 2013, by Shirley Hessler (shirleyjean61 [at] gmail [dot] com)

We bought this home in 1988. Fell in LOVE with it the moment I seen it. After we bought it, we found out it was built in 1910 and had a wonderful history. With lots research we, placed this home on the historic registry back in 1988. We did as much work to it as we could and as we could afford to. We lived there almost 11 wonderful years and raised my children there. When we sold it, the person who bought it was planning to fix it up and bring it back to it beautiful glory, at least that was my understanding. I have not seen the house since I moved in 2002. I took trip to visit my family and took a drive by the home to see it. I WAS DEVISTATED at what I saw! I cried as I walked around this home and could not believe how it had been vandalized inside and out! I was not able to go in since I do not own it, but looked from outside thought it's dirty and broken windows. My curtains I had made for it are still hanging, dirty and torn. Several of the original windows are now broken which were all intact when we sold it. I walked around it and took pictures of it as I cried. I have lost or misplaced the pictures of it due to a divorce and moving to CA. Here are pictures of what I seen while visiting. I have no desire to live in it again, but if I had unlimited funds, I would buy it back and bring it back to it's original glory as I could! I have wonderful memories while living in this home and nothing can take that away. I just hate seeing it rotting to the ground....
