First Avenue Bridge

US 151 over Cedar R., Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Photos

Overview Looking East

There are actually two separate spans that comprise the First Avenue Bridge. It runs in a NE-SW direction from downtown Cedar Rapids with Mays Island between the two spans. Mays Island is referred to locally as "Government Island" because the courthouse is located on the southeast end of the island. The large structure seen between the two spans of this bridge is the Veteran's Memorial Building.
