Pioneer Deep Space Station

Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex, Fort Irwin, California



Constructed in 1958, this was the first antenna to support the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's unmanned exploration of deep space, and th prototype antenna for the entire Deep Space Network for tracking deep space vehicles. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, October 3, 1985
