Description

The company formed in 1868 with the merging of Harig and Koop's buisnesses. 1871 the company built a new building at the current location due to their first building being destroyed by fire. Harig sold his part of the company to his partner and the business went on under the name A. Koop & Sons until his death in 1904. Building, machinery and property were sold to Columbia Mantel Company in 1905. Owned by Charles P. Brecher, the company made wooden mantels until they began making furniture as well in 1913. Mantel production continued until 1958 and furniture was being made up until 1986 when the company was liquidated. I want to find out about a table, it was made by Columbia Mantel and I was curious to know if it was a government contract and if there are plans available, or any other info you might have.

I have a small wooden side table that has a maker's mark that reads: Columbia Mantel Company, Louisville Kentucky #1225. Can you tell me anything about this company other than the building is on the National Historic Building List?

I have a wooden table that folds in half and turns to either open to a table or closes for maybe what I would call a table to set againt the wall to get it out of the way. it has a compartment in it that you can see as you swivel the top. it has markings on bottom....Columbia Mantel Co. contract # W11=009 QM 70141 December 1946.

I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it.

We have come across a small mahogany drop leaf table with the following stamped on the bottom: Columbia Mantel Co., Louisville, KY #456 Mah 6132 and would like to know if you would have any information on it as to when it was manufactured. Thank you.
