Harrison Chattanooga Georgetown & Charleston Railroad Tunnel
Posted July 29, 2010, by Alan Walker (awalker1829 [at] yahoo [dot] com)

Actually, this tunnel was officially named by the East Tennessee and Georgia Railroad-successor to the failed Harrison, Chattanooga, Georgetown and Charleston Railroad. The official name of the tunnel was Whiteside Tunnel-after Col. James Whiteside-a prominent local landowner and Director of both the East Tennessee and Georgia Railroad and the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad.
