Description

Commemorates the mercantile history of Boston, one of America's major ports. The original Long Wharf (1710-21) was the city's busiest pier for many years. Customhouse Block (1848), a massive granite structure, was built during Boston's commercial zenith. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, November 13, 1966
