Tobias-Thompson Complex

Also known as: Little River Archeological District (14RC2,3,8,9,12,13,14,40
4 mi. SE of Geneseo, Geneseo, Kansas



The complex is composed of a cluster of eight village sites along the Little Arkansas river, all of which relate to the Little River Focus of the Great Bend Aspect dating from 1500-1700 AD. These sites have been related to a historic culture, the Wichita Tribe, and may have been among the villages visited by Coronado in Quivira in 1542. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, July 4, 1964
