A natural mound left behind by the last glacier, a feature of the "Driftless Area" of Wisconsin. The mound is famous for the huge letter "M" on the side, placed and maintained by the Engineering Students at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. The M was built by students of the School of Mines at the old state university, forerunner of today's UWP. It is claimed to be the largest such display in the world. The M is visible in satellite images of the area.
