Wm. Jones, 1724-1811, was commissioned Colonel early in the Revolutionary War, and commanded the Third Lincoln County Regiment which protected this area. He was sent to the legislature as the first representative from Bristol, represented Bristol in the Massachusetts General Court, and was a member of the Convention of Massachusetts, which adopted the Constitution of the United States.
