On May 9th, 1756, an Indian party attacked the home of Thomas Means, killing and scalping Thomas, wounding his pregnant wife Alice and killing their infant son in her arms. Two teenage girls were abducted, one of whom escaped, while the other was sold into slavery to a French-Canadian family.
