Description 

John Sawyer was a veteran of the Civil War and a partner in a grain brokerage. He later acted as an advisor to widows of veterans for the Milwaukee County Soldier's Relief Commission.

The house features a two story columned portico, a part of the timeless Classical Revival style as presented by architect, William D. Kimball.
