The Greer Theater opened roughly around 1940 on North Main Street. It was not the same as the Grand Theatre, which was located around the corner on East Poinsett Street; they were in business at the same time. The Grand was a much older and smaller theater, built before 1920. There were other theaters in Greer through the years; the most notable was the Rialto, located on Trade Street across from the train depot.

Update Log

  • July 2, 2020: Updated by dlovegrove: The Greer and the Grand were two different theaters, in two locations, owned and operated by different people, and overlapped in their existence (they are often confused on various websites).
