Nature reserve created by the Missouri Botanical Garden


The old bus stop was originally located at the southeast corner of Allenton Road and Route 66, just before the railroad tracks. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps Company 1770. It was moved here in 2002.

Shaw Nature Reserve was created to preserve the plants that were growing at the Botanical Garden. St. Louis was suffering from coal pollution during the 1920's. In 1923, the Trustees sold off fifty acres of the Botanical Garden. The proceeds were used to purchase this property for the preservation of the plants at the Botanical Garden.
