Description 

The Rensselaer County Soldiers & Sailors Monument is dedicated to the county's veterans of the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican - American and Civil Wars. The monument stands 93' tall overall including the 17' tall James E. Kelly sculpture entitled "Call to Arms", a 50' tall granite column and a 500 ton granite base.

The monument was designed by the firm of Fuller & Wheeler of Albany, New York. The stone was quarried and fabricated by Frederick & Field of Quincy, Massachusetts. Ground was broken for the monument on May 30, 1890. It was dedicated on September 15, 1891
