Historic Bridge Park is an open-air museum and recreational park primarily focused on documenting and displaying restored historic bridges. However, in addition to historic bridges, the park also functions as a traditional park would, with restroom facilities, a playground, a picnic area, and a canoe/kayak launch onto the Kalamazoo River.

The park was closed during the Kalamazoo River Oil Spill due to contamination in both the Kalamazoo River and its tributary Dickerson Creek, which many of the bridges in the park were erected across. The park was reopened following cleanup and many improved facilities were paid for by Enbridge, the company responsible for the oil spill.
