Description 

Meaderville was the Little Italy of Montana. It grew up around the Leonard Mine. A suburb of Butte but outside the city limits by 1940 it number a few thousand inhabitants, mostly Italians but with some Irish, Cornish and others. It was renowned for its supper clubs, the Rocky Mountain Cafe, the Aro Club and Lydia's as well as its volunteer fire department and Christmas displays. The town was demolished in 1966 to allow the Anaconda Company to expand its Berkeley Pit copper mine.
