Description

The sawmill started as the Stil-Van Lumber Company in 1949. Ellingson Lumber Company purchased the mill and timber cutting rights in 1957 and ran the Halfway sawmill until 1972 after which the remaining timber was processed at their sawmill in Baker. The "wigwam" slash burner is the only remaining structure at the Halfway site.
