First Baptist was organized in 1795 and the second oldest church in Troy. The last church house built in 1846 and served the congregation until 2014 when it was sold to the Tau Nu chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The dwindling congregation merged with nearby Mount Ida Community Baptist Church.
