"The new Hotel Rensselaer, Troy, N.Y., will be formally opened to-morrow evening, and a reception given by Mr. A. W. Eager, proprietor, to his many friends and acquaintances. Hotel Rensselaer is located on the site of the Old Troy House, at the corner of River and First streets, a three-minute walk from Union Station, and in the heart of the business section of Troy. It is a seven story, modern, fireproof building, on a plot one hundred by one hundred and thirty feet. It contains over two hundred rooms and private baths, and has a spacious lobby decorated most artistically and furnished in excellent taste in the style of the
fifteenth century." - New York Globe & Commercial Advertiser, September 5, 1904.
The building designed by William Lee Woollett of Albany is now the Monument Square Apartments.
