Description
Holy Virgin Cathedral was founded by Mikhail Maximovitch who was later canonized, St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco, and is buried within it. The building was designed by Oleg N. Ivanitsky, and features five onion domes covered in 24 carat gold leaf. It is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral outside of Russia.
