Engine Company No.47

Also known as: Engine Company No.44 (after 1973)

This brick firehouse was designed by architect John Reid Jr. It features terra cotta cornices with acanthus leaf molding and brackets. SFFD and No. 47 are embossed in terra cotta medallions on either side of the engine door. Small iron balconies embellish the three windows of the upstairs dormitory. This is the oldest San Francisco firehouse still in use.
