This Queen Anne style home was constructed in 1901 for mining engineer Donald Gillies, superintendent of the W.A. Clark properties. Thomas and Esther Parent purchased the house in 1928. Mr. Parent worked as a salesman for neighbor William Symons' department store. An elegant brick arch, flared overhangs accentuated with wooden brackets, projecting oriel windows, a centered Palladian window, and an extended gable decoration visually complicate the front facade.
