The memorial honors all first responders who died in the line of duty including those of September 11, 2001. The 19-foot tall steel beam was part of a World Trade Center building. The steel beam, is tilted at nine degrees and eleven minutes facing directly toward Ground Zero in New York. Small chucks of concrete can be seen attached to the beam. Benches allow for sitting to contemplate the significance. Solar panels provide electricity for night illumination of the flag.
