Allen Herschell Company

The Allan Herschell Company, in Buffalo, New York was the largest manufacturer of amusement rides until it was acquired by Chance Rides in 1970. Founded in North Tonawanda, New York in 1915, the Allan Herschell Company was the fourth amusement ride company organized by Herschell.

The Herschell Armitage Company, Herschell Spillman Company and Spillman Engineering were all outgrowths of Herschell operations, but are not related in any other way.

The Herschell Company was noted for building reliable carousels that could be packed and transported easily. The company built over 3,000 wooden carved carousels and continued to build all metal, transportable carousels and other amusement rides.
