Description
The windmill stands 75' tall and the sails span is 102'. It was designed by Alpheus Bull, jr. During its period of operation it was capable of pumping 30,000 gallons of water per hour which was used to supply Golden Gate Park. It was decommisioned in 1935 and fell into disrepair. It was restored in 1980-1981. It is said that there are paintings on the inside walls which visitors are not able to see. Planted next to the windmill is the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden.
