Trojan Nuclear Power Plant

Construction of the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant began February 1, 1970. Initial criticality was achieved on December 15, 1975, and grid connection on December 23, 1975. Construction costs totaled $460,000,000. Commercial operation began on May 20, 1976.

The 1130 megawatt Westinghouse pressurized water reactor was the largest of its type built when completed.

The plant was closed in December 1992 due to a steam generator leak. The plant's 499' tall cooling tower was imploded on May 21, 2006 and decommissioning was completed in 2008.
