Spreckels Organ Pavilion houses the open-air Spreckels Organ in Balboa Park. The Spreckels Organ, the world's largest pipe organ in a fully outdoor venue, is a gift to the city from sugar magnates John D. and Adolph B. Spreckles. The Pavilion was constructed for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. It opened on December 31, 1914 with a performance of Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld.
