The bronze statue of Connecticut Revolutionary War hero Nathan Hale is a life-size figure of Hale standing with his left foot in front of his right on an 8' pedestal. The statue by Enoch Smith Woods was cast in 1889 and place outside the Wadsworth Antheneum in 1892. It is one of two statues of Hale in the city of Hartford. The other, sculpted by Karl Gerhardt, can be found in the atrium of the state capitol.
